The best way to get close to Africa – to experience its sights and sounds, its deep-within-you essence – is to stay in a mobile camp. When you are sleeping in the bush, the wilderness comes to you. There is nothing as exhilarating as falling asleep to the sound of a distant lion’s roar, or waking up to bird song and a breath-taking view that belongs only to you.

Camps are established in special areas, hand picked over many years, where the wildlife is most prolific, the views most spectacular. We often choose waterside sites close to where animals come to drink and bathe; but are equally amenable to finding spots that satisfy individual interests in birdlife, rare flora, geography or anthropology.

Every camp is tailored for and around its guests. Our experienced team focuses on the big picture, considering locations, menus, arrangements for special activities, and also on the tiny details that make your trip extra special.

Things to know

Mobile camps are my favourite way to go on safari. Going in a setting up a camp in an otherwise unused area, means the wildlife comes to you. You feel most in touch with nature here, listening to the sounds of game in the distance, enjoying starry skies with no one around and sharing stories around the camp fire. Camping remains the most authentic way to ‘safari’ within the African wilderness.
