While we recognise that, as a high-end luxury travel company, we’re not perfect, we’re committed to doing the very best we can. This Earth Day, with the theme "OUR POWER, OUR PLANET," we’re reflecting on how sustainable tourism can protect Africa’s breathtaking landscapes and support local communities.

Travelling with us means waking up to the sounds of the African bush in a king-sized bed, dining al fresco under the stars with a glass of fine wine in hand, and knowing that every part of your journey has the planet’s best interests at heart. So, in celebration of Earth Day this year, we’re also proud to launch our partnership with Planet Moja – a collaboration that brings digital innovation to our mission of conservation and conscious travel.

Our partnership with Planet Moja

Planet Moja, a Kenyan sustainability consultancy, is rethinking what climate action looks like in Africa. With them, we’re not just mitigating our footprint, we’re investing in a better future for the people and nature of Africa.

Rather than relying on the conventional route of simply offsetting emissions, Planet Moja helps businesses like ours go deeper, measuring and understanding our environmental footprint and guiding us toward lasting change. For the emissions we can’t avoid, they guide us in supporting their carefully selected, certified portfolio of nature-based carbon reduction and removal projects, so we can back high-impact initiatives that empower local communities to reduce harmful practices, regenerate ecosystems, and restore mangrove forests. Here are just a few of the projects we will proudly support through Planet Moja:

Kasigau Wildlife Corridor, Kenya
The Kasigau Wildlife Corridor is a sanctuary protecting over 500,000 acres of threatened forest between Tsavo East and West National Parks, a key wildlife migration route. The work they do means they’re able to prevent more than 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions every single year. However, its impact goes way beyond the trees and wildlife; thanks to carbon financing, it also benefits more than 100,000 local people economically. Overall, it’s an excellent example of regenerative conservation: restoring biodiversity, safeguarding endangered species, and proving that meaningful climate action can work hand in hand with community empowerment.

BURN Cookstoves, East Africa
Every day, nearly 3 billion people cook over open fires or inefficient stoves, an overlooked crisis contributing to deforestation, air pollution, and respiratory illness. But BURN is working to change that narrative. Their award-winning cookstoves use 50% less charcoal than traditional models, reducing carbon emissions by over a whopping 170,000 tonnes every year. With more than a million stoves sold, the ripple effects are monumental: healthier homes, lower household costs, fewer felled trees, and fewer emissions, protecting East Africa’s precious forests all while improving lives in the communities we’re part of.
